Practical Uses: A diluted star anise oil may be massaged into the abdomen as a digestive stimulant, carminative, and diuretic. A topical massage with star anise oil is also recommended for stomach cramps, rheumatism, and muscular aches and pains. Use star anise oil in a diffuser to treat colds, bronchitis and flu, and to clear the respiratory passages. 

Description: A small to medium evergreen tree, part to the magnolia family, reaching up to 8m (26ft). The leaves and flowers are yellow. The fruits are harvested before they ripen, and then sun dried. It is star shaped, radiating between five and ten pointed boat-shaped sections, typically eight on average. These hard sections are seedpods; tough skinned and rust colored, they measure up to 3cm (1-1/4”) long.
